Ebola virus disease (EVD), formerly known as Ebola haemorrhagic fever, is a severe, often fatal illness in humans. EVD outbreaks occur primarily in remote villages in Central and West Africa, near tropical rainforests where humans come into contact with dead infected animals such as fruit bats, monkeys and antelope. The virus can then spread from human to human. According to WHO, EVD outbreaks have a case fatality rate of up to 90%. Ebola first appeared in 1976 in 2 simultaneous outbreaks, one in Nzara, Sudan, and the secondin Yambuku, Democratic Republic of Congo, in a village situated near the Ebola River. This is where thedisease takes its name. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunoassays. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20C. Aliquots are stable at -20C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Note: Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
