Ebola virus causes disease in humans known as Ebola virus disease (EVD) or Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF). Symptoms typically begin with a fever, throat and muscle pains, and headaches approximately 2-21 days after contacting the virus. This is followed by nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, which is accompanied by decreased liver and kidney function, which can lead to bleeding. The virus is spread through contact with bodily fluids of an infected animal or person. Blood is tested for antibodies to the virus, or the viral RNA, or the virus itself, to confirm the diagnosis. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
