IgA is the predominant surface secreted immunoglobulin from the intestinal, urogenital and respiratory tracts. IgA functions in a protective capacity, primarily, by preventing viruses and bacteria from adhearing to epithelial tissues. High concentrations of IgA are found in saliva, colostrum, milk, tear duct fluid, urine and nasal fluid. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunoprecipitation: Reported to immunoprecipitate bands of ~62kD and 75kD, which is consistent with the heavy chain and the secretory component of IgA. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: X63.Ag8.653 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20C. Aliquots are stable at -20C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Note: Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap
