Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA) is a naturally-occurring, inflammatory-inhibitor protein. It inhibits the activity of IL-1a and IL-1b by competitively blocking their binding to type I and type II receptors. IL-1RA is produced by corneal epithelial cells, monocytes, neutrophils, macrophages, and fibroblasts. Therapeutically, IL-1RA may help in the treatment of sepsis, cachexia, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic myelogenous leukemia, asthma, psoriasis, and inflammatory bowel disease. Recombinant Human IL-1RA is a 17.2kD protein consisting of 153 amino acid residues. Recombinant protein corresponding to human IL-1RA, expressed in E. coli. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products may be stored at -20C. Stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
