Interleukin-6, as known as IL-6, is an immunoregulatory lymphokine produced by T-cells in response to antigenic or mitogenic stimulation. It is also a myokine, a cytokine produced from muscle, and is elevated in response to muscle contraction. IL-6 acts as both a pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine. Smooth muscle cells in the tunica media of many blood vessels also produce IL-6. It is mediated through its inhibitory effects on TNF-alpha and IL-1, and activation of IL-1ra and IL-10. Recombinant interleukin-6 , expressed in E. coli and purifed by conventional chromatography, after refolding of the isolated inclusion bodies in a renaturation buffer. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
