Immunogen: A synthetic peptide within the human IRE1 alpha protein (within residues 700-800). Homology: 100% homology with the human and mouse proteins.
IRE1 acts as the sensor of unfolded proteins in the ER that initiates transmittance of the unfolded protein signal from the ER to the nucleus by splicing XBP1 mRNA converting it into a potent unfolded-protein response transcriptional activator. It is a transmembrane protein that has both serine-threonine kinase and endoribonuclease activities. Null mutants are viable, but IRE1 is essential for viability under stress conditions that cause unfolded proteins to accumulate in the ER. Cellular Localization: Endoplasmic reticulum Positive Control: Pancreatic islets and insulinoma cells. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Purity: Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Form: Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2.
