Myristoylated Alanine-Rich C-Kinase Substrate (MARCKS) is a widely expressed substrate of PKC. MARCKS is essential in neuronal development, as mice deficient in it die shortly after birth. Through its basic effector region, MARCKS associates with acidic membrane phospholipids, actin filaments, and calmodulin. Poly (ADP-ribose) also binds the basic effector region, blocking calmodulin binding, membrane association, and phosphorylation by PKC, suggesting that MARCKS may be an effector of the DNA-damage signal transduced by poly (ADP-ribose). Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
