Nerve growth factor (NGF) is important for the development and maintenance of the sympathetic and sensory nervous systems. It stimulates division and differentiation of sympathetic and embryonic sensory neurons. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: The NGF protein migrates at ~12-16kD in SDS-PAGE. It has a predicted molecular mass of 13.5kD. The protein separates into a number of isoforms with a pI between 9 and 10 in 2D PAGE due to post-translational modifications. The unmodified protein has a predicted pI of 9. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Stable for 12 months at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O or PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
