Oxaliplatin is a a third-generation, diaminocyclohexane-containing platinum anti-cancer drug. It is typically used in combination with fluorouracil (5-FU) and leucovorin, known as FOLFOX, for the treatment of colorectal cancer. The leucovorin-modulated single-agent 5-FU regimens achieved a median overall survival of 15 months or less. Combination regimens of FOLFOX consistently lead to median survivals in the 15-20 month range.
