Peptone Y is a specially formulated enzymatic digest of casein, similar to Tryptone from gelatin, but used to supply higher growth rates when used in molecular biology media preparations such as YPD Broth & Agar. Peptone Y is processed in Mexico. During processing of the product, a batch is heated to a minimum of 80C for 1 hour including a minimum of 5 minutes at 105C or greater and then dried at a minimum of 140C. The enzyme used in processing is porcine-derived from the USA.
