Bovine plasmin is prepared from isolated plasminogen via activation with immobilized uPA. The active plasmin was purified by SBTI agarose and eluted with benzamidine to ensure activity. The benzamidine was removed by G-25 gel filtration and frozen immediately as the final preparation. Activity: The preparation as provided exhibits 100% theoretical activity with a greater than >95% actual activity. Storage and Stability: Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -70C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Plasmin will readily undergo proteolysis in the absence of benzamidine and should be used quickly once thawed.
