PPCS, also known as phosphopantothenate--cysteine ligase, catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of coenzyme A (CoA) from pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), which is an essential universal pathway in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. PPCS, one of the last enzymes in this pathway, converts phosphopantothenate to phosphopantothenoylcysteine. Source: Recombinant corresponding to aa1-311 from human PPCS, fused to His-tag at N-terminus expressed in E.coli. This product is recommended for use in applications that do not require a catalytically active form of the protein. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
