Prostaglandin I synthase (PGIS) catalyzes the isomerization of PGH2 to PGI2. PGI2 (prostacyclin) is a potent vasodilator and inhibitor of platelet aggregation. PGIS is a membrane-bound hemoprotein localized primarily in endothelial cells. The cloned bovine and human enzymes contain 500 amino acids and a calculated molecular mass of 56,629 and 57,103, respectively. Northern blot analysis reveals that the mRNA for PGIS is expressed in a wide variety of human tissues and is particularly abundant in ovary, heart, skeletal muscle, lung, and prostate. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:200 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
