Recombinant Protein G used also in Protein G beads (P9100-85) is a genetically engineered form of Protein G. Non-essential regions have been removed while leaving the IgG binding sites intact. Protein G has been extensively used for the isolation of IgG from several species of mammals. Although binding of Protein G to IgGs is not equivalent for all IgG subclasses, Protein G possesses properties that have made it a popular choice for antibody isolation. Protein G binds immunoglobulins at the Fc region of leaving the Fab region free to bind the antigen. Hence, Protein G is extremely useful for isolating of immune complexes. Source: Recombinant protein, expressed in E. coli Storage & Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Stable for 12 months at -20C. Reconstitute with ddH2O, 0.1% sodium azide. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer
