Pyruvate kinase catalyzes the transfer of a phosphate group from phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) to ADP. This transfer yields one molecule of pyruvate and one molecule of ATP. Synonyms: ATP:Pyruvate 2-0-phosphotransferase, PK, PKM2, Pyruvate Kinase Isozymes M1/M2, Pyruvate Kinase Muscle Isozyme CAS No: 9001-59-6 Molecular Weight: 237kD (as a tetramer of four equal subunits 57kD) Activity: 200U/mg Specifc Activity: As Reported Unit Definition: One unit will catalyze the conversion of 1.0 micromole of phosphoenolpyruvate to pyruvate per minute at pH 7.6 at 37C Protein: 0.4mg protein/mg solid (A280nm, E0.1%=0.54) Contaminants: CPK: 1% LDH: 0.01% Applications: Enzymatic determination of ADP, ATP, pyruvate or phsphoenolpyruvate (PEP) when coupled with the related enzymes. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute with 0.9% saline. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
