Substance P is a tachykinin family neuropeptide that functions as a neurotransmitter and neuromodulator. In the CNS, Substance P is involved in the regulation of mood, anxiety, sleep, saiety, reinforcement, respiratory rhythm and pain processing. In nociception, the neuropeptide is released at local spinal cord synapse. Recent research now shows substance P is potentially involved in endothelial cell differentiation as well as diverse roles in neuroinflammatory response. The endogenous receptor for Substance P is neurokinin 1 receptor (NK1 receptor), which belongs to the tachykinin receptor sub-family of GPCRs. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (Frozen): 1:400-1:800 using Immunoflourescence. Incubate overnight at 4C. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Cryostat sections of rat colon Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Dilute further in 0.1M PBS, 1% BSA, 0.09% sodium azide. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
