SOD2 is a member of the iron/manganese superoxide dismutase family. It is a mitochondrial matrix protein that forms a homotetramer and binds one manganese ion per subunit. This protein binds to the superoxide byproducts of oxidative phosphorylation and converts them to hydrogen peroxide and diatomic oxygen. Mutations in this protein have been associated with idiopathic cardiomyopathy (IDC), premature aging, sporadic motor neuron disease, and cancer. Recombinant protein corresponding to aa25-222 of human SOD2 His-Tag, expressed in E. coli Accession: NP_001019636.1 Amino Acid Sequence: MGSSHHHHHH SSGLVPRGSH MKHSLPDLPY DYGALEPHIN AQIMQLHHSK HHAAYVNNLN VTEEKYQEAL AKGDVTAQIA LQPALKFNGG GHINHSIFWT NLSPNGGGEP KGELLEAIKR DFGSFDKFKE KLTAASVGVQ GSGWGWLGFN KERGHLQIAA CPNQDPLQGT TGLIPLLGID VWEHAYYLQY KNVRPDYLKA IWNVINWENV TERYMACKK Specific Activity: >1000units/mg, in which one unit will inhibit the rate of reduction of cytochrome c by 50% in a coupled system, using xanthine and Xanthine oxidase at pH 7.5 at 25C. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
