Tyrosine decarboxylase catalyzes the removal of the carboxyl group from tyrosine to produce tyramine and carbon dioxide. Pyridoxal 5-phosphate is a necessary coenzyme. By utilizing the apoenzyme prepared from cells grown on a vitamin B6 deficient medium, pyridoxal phosphate may be determined. Quality Control: SDS-PAGE Unit Definition: 1 unit yields 1µmole of CO2 per minute from L-tyrosine 37C, pH 5.5. Activity is measured in the presence of excess pyridoxal phosphate. Activity: 0.2units/mg Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Stable for 6 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Prepare fresh before use.
Form: Supplied as a lyophilized powder
