Urokinase (UK) is a serine protease, which is one of biological plasminogen activators. It is involved in a number of biological functions including fibrinolysis, embryogenesis, cell migration, tissue remodeling, ovulation, and wound healing. It can be obtained from human urine or kidney cell culture. Urokinase is a two-chain glycoprotein containing 411 amino acids with 12 disulfide bonds. Its molecular weight is 54kD. Specific Activity: >187,973IU/mg =Contaminants: Free of: Hepatitis B surface antigen, Hepatitis C antibody and HIV I and II. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Stable for 12 months at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
