Urotensin II (U-II) is a cyclic heptapeptide that functions both as a potent vasoconstrictor and a neurotransmitter/ neuromodulator. U-II circulates in the plasma as a zymogen, and is activated by the urotensin converting enzyme. U-II is the endogenous ligand for the G-protein coupled receptor 14 (GPR14), recently renamed the UT receptor. Changes in the expression of U-II and its receptor have been associated with cardiovascular and renal diseases, including atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, and diabetic nephropathy. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Radioimmunoassay. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Radioimmunoassay: 0.24ug/ml will bind ~30% in a system using human 125I-Urotensin II as a tracer. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Stable for 12 months at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Purity: Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography.
Form: Supplied as a lyophilized powder from PBS, pH 7.5. Reconstitute with 200ul sterile ddH2O.
