Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to part (CNDGTEFGGSIYQK) of the C-terminal of human VDAC1 with an added N-terminal cysteine. This sequence is completely conserved between isoforms 1, 2 and 3 of human, mouse and rat VDAC. Species Sequence Homology: mouse and human.
The Voltage-Dependent Anion Channel (VDAC1, Mitochondrial Porin) is an outer membrane mitochondrial protein. The VDAC1 protein is thought to form the major pores through which adenine nucleotides cross the outer mitochondrial membrane. VDAC1 has also been implicated in the formation of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore complex in apoptotic cells. This complex, formed by VDAC1, adenine nucleotide translocator (ANT), and cyclophilin D (CypD), is thought to allow the mitochondria to undergo metabolic uncoupling and irreversible morphologic changes that ultimately destroy the mitochondria during apoptosis. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Not suitable for Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 2ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only.
