SAG-524 is an orally active HBV viral replication inhibitor. SAG-524 selectively modulates PAPD5 to destabilize HBV-RNA by shortening its poly(A) tail. SAG-524 reduces levels of HBV-DNA, HBsAg, and HBcrAg, and reduces intrahepatic cccDNA in HBV-infected mice models. SAG-524 shows no significant toxicity and neurotoxicity in mice and monkeys. SAG-524 can be used for the research of hepatitis b virus (HBV) infection[1].
