NIR-BG2 is a near-infrared fluorescent probe targeting senescence-associated beta-galactosidase (SA-beta-Gal). NIR-BG2 is activated by SA-beta-Gal and undergoes hydrolysis to release electrophilic quinone methide that covalently binds to surrounding proteins for in situ labeling, with a 16-fold enhancement of fluorescence signal at 709 nm . NIR-BG2 is promising for research of vivo imaging of cellular senescence[1][2].
