(S)-Bromoenol lactone ((S)-BEL) inhibits the arachidonate release induced by vasopressin from cultured rat aortic smooth muscle (A10) cells with an IC50 of 2 µM. (S)-BEL is an irreversible, chiral, mechanism-based calcium-independent phospholipase A2beta (iPLA2beta) inhibitor [1].
